President Tinubu Prioritizes Peace in Benue

President Tinubu to Visit Benue Amid Ongoing Crisis, Kaduna Visit Rescheduled

In a decisive move aimed at restoring peace in one of Nigeria’s most troubled regions, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, shifting his previously scheduled official trip to Kaduna State by one day.

The visit comes in response to the ongoing communal unrest that has plagued several communities across Benue, resulting in loss of lives, displacement, and the destruction of property. The President is expected to engage directly with local stakeholders in a bid to find sustainable solutions to the violence.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the visit will include a town hall meeting with traditional rulers, political leaders, religious figures, youth groups, and community stakeholders. This inclusive dialogue, the Presidency says, is part of the administration’s broader efforts to heal fractured communities and promote national unity.

In anticipation of the visit, President Tinubu has already dispatched key government officials to Benue, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, the National Security Adviser, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Defence.

President Tinubu has previously expressed deep concern over the recurring violence in Benue State. He has called for an end to hostilities and urged all residents and leaders to embrace peace, unity, and reconciliation. In his earlier statements, he offered condolences to those who have lost loved ones and livelihoods in the crisis.

The President was initially scheduled to visit Kaduna on Wednesday, June 18, to commission key state government projects. That visit has now been rescheduled to Thursday, June 19, 2025.

As Nigerians continue to hope for peace across all regions, FortisTV will provide in-depth coverage of the President’s visit and engagements in Benue.
