Aiyedatiwa Presents New Toyota SUVs to Ondo Traditional Rulers

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has presented brand-new Toyota SUVs to traditional rulers across the state in Akure, pledging his administration’s continued commitment to the welfare and dignity of the traditional institution.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the gesture as part of his efforts to elevate the traditional institution and strengthen its role in grassroots governance.

“As custodians of our rich cultural heritage and values, our royal fathers deserve respect and support. Within the first year of our tenure, we completed the long-abandoned secretariat project for the Council of Obas,” the governor said.

He announced that all Grade ‘A’ Obas would receive a 2025 Toyota Fortuner SUV, while Grade ‘B’ and ‘C’ monarchs would get Toyota Corolla Cross SUVs of the same model year.

Aiyedatiwa also reaffirmed the prompt payment of the statutory five per cent local government allocation to traditional institutions, emphasizing that the SUVs symbolize “honour, dignity, and respect” for the royal fathers.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, praised the initiative, noting that it underscores the administration’s recognition of the traditional rulers’ roles in maintaining peace and promoting community development.

In appreciation, the Olowo of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, commended the governor, promising that the monarchs would remain partners in progress with the state government.
