BON Commends Tinubu, Security Agencies Over Rescue of Kidnapped Oyo Pupils

Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria praises President Tinubu, Governor Makinde, and security agencies for the successful rescue operation in Oyo State while urging continued collaboration against kidnapping.

The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and Nigeria’s security agencies following the successful rescue of school pupils and a teacher who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of BON, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, the umbrella body for broadcast media organisations described the rescue as a significant achievement and praised the professionalism and operational competence displayed by the country’s security agencies during the mission.

BON noted that the successful operation reflects the commitment and bravery of personnel across the nation’s security architecture, whose coordinated efforts led to the safe rescue of the victims.

The organisation also lauded President Tinubu for providing what it described as exemplary political leadership, while acknowledging Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo State for their cooperation with security agencies, which it said contributed to the success of the operation.

According to BON, the collaboration among the Nigerian Military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies should be sustained to strengthen the country’s response to kidnapping, banditry and other security threats.

The organisation expressed optimism that continued political support and adequate funding for security institutions would help reduce kidnapping and banditry across Nigeria.

BON further appealed for intensified efforts to secure the release of other children still being held captive by kidnappers, particularly in Borno and other northern states, expressing hope that they would soon be reunited safely with their families and communities.

The statement was signed by the Executive Secretary of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose.
