Ogundoyin Intensifies 2027 Governorship Push in Oyo Constituency

Declares ambition, seeks grassroots support

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has stepped up consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election, extending his campaign to Oyo Federal Constituency where he formally declared his ambition and rallied support from party leaders and stakeholders.

At a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held in Oyo town, key figures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, and Oyo West Local Government Areas converged to deliberate on the political future of the state.

Stakeholders’ meeting draws key party figures

The meeting, described as a strategic outreach effort, was led by prominent party leaders including Monsurat Sunmonu, a member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, and Chief Sunday Ogunlade.

Addressing the gathering, Ogundoyin emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement, calling for unity and collective support as he formally joined the 2027 governorship race.

Development agenda unveiled

A major highlight of the meeting was the unveiling of his policy blueprint, IGBEGA OYO Omituntun 3.0 Roadmap, which outlines his vision for governance.

The document focuses on economic expansion, infrastructure development, improved education, and grassroots empowerment, positioning itself as both a continuation and an upgrade of ongoing reforms under the current administration.

Calls for unity ahead of political cycle

Several PDP leaders from the constituency, including Chief Sunday Ogunlade and Alhaji Sulaiman Ajepe, stressed the need for unity within the party, noting that sustained consultations with stakeholders would be critical ahead of the next election cycle.

Leaders back Ogundoyin’s credentials

Other political stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, former House of Representatives member Hon. Yemi Taiwo, and Alhaji Majekodunmi Aborode, highlighted Ogundoyin’s legislative experience and leadership capacity, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the state.
