Elected officials and key functionaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, passing a unanimous vote of confidence in his leadership and pledging to work together in unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was reached during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at Jagz Hotel, Iyaganku, Ibadan. The meeting brought together PDP elected representatives and party leaders across the state, including members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, party chairmen, and members of the state executive.
Speaking after the meeting, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, described the gathering as a crucial step toward strengthening unity within the party.
According to him, the meeting was convened by elected officials of the party to address internal concerns and reaffirm their collective support for the governor.
Ogundoyin noted that discussions focused largely on consolidating the party’s strength and resolving minor internal issues affecting some stakeholders.
He expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the deliberations, revealing that a significant portion of the disagreements raised during the meeting had been successfully resolved.
The Speaker further emphasized that party members had agreed to move forward together, united behind the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Also speaking, the Oyo State PDP Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, said the meeting demonstrated the party’s readiness to close ranks and focus on its future political objectives.
He explained that stakeholders used the platform to openly address grievances and misunderstandings within the party structure.
According to Ogungbenro, members resolved to put aside past differences and remain focused on strengthening the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
He added that the stakeholders unanimously agreed to stand firmly behind Governor Makinde, whom they described as the party’s leader and principal in the state.
Ogungbenro stressed that the PDP in Oyo State remains united and committed to sustaining its political dominance through collective effort and loyalty to the party’s leadership.
The stakeholders’ meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from party leaders and elected officials to maintain unity, strengthen internal cohesion, and work collaboratively toward the continued success of the PDP in Oyo State.
