The chairman LASIEC Lagos State Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile accompanied by her team and electoral commissioners on Friday 7th visited Onigbongbo LCDA for the second time.
During the visit, the LASIEC Chairman and her team inspected the office, store, and restroom provided for the LASIEC staff and officers posted to the council. The purpose of the inspection was to ensure that the facilities are adequate and well maintained, providing a conducive working environment for the staff.
In her welcome address, the council chairperson Barr Rekiyah Olufunke Hassan thanked the delegates and promised free and fair elections in Onigbongbo LCDA.
The chairman LASIEC Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu emphasized that guidelines for local government elections will soon be released, she urged all apirants to buy forms and submitt on time.
She also commended Onigbongbo LCDA for being a peaceful place with a significant number of registered voters totalling 175,000. She also urged the leadership of the council to always attend stakeholder’s meetings ensuring their voices are heard , while she expressed satisfaction with the condition of the facilities , acknowledging the council’s efforts in providing a comfortable working space for the staff.
In his vote of thanks, the leader of the legislative arm Onigbongbo LCDA Hon Kayode Opayemi thanked the delegates, and assured that all neccessary arrangements will be made available. However, he raised pressing concerns about two polling units from the council being conceded to a sister local government. The LASIEC Chairman advised the council to write officially to INEC on the matter and copy LASIEC as INEC is better positioned to address the issues.
The visit demonstrates LASIEC’s commitment to ensuring the success of the upcoming local government elections in Onigbongbo LCDA.
