In a show of solidarity and community spirit, the council chairperson of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area Barr Rekiyah Olufunke Hassan on Sunday 2nd of March bearing gifts of food and fruits to share joined muslim faithful at the Onigbongbo central mosque in Ward A of the council area for the breaking on the second day of Ramadan, which underscores the council’s commitment to promoting interfaith , harmony, community engagement , and social cohesion.
During a courtesy visit to the palace, HRM Oba Oluwasegun Adeyemi Ajasa Olaside 1 Awuse of Onigbongbo Kingdom expressed his support for the chairperson, stating that himself and the chiefs are solidly behind the chairperson. HRM emphasized the importance of supporting whoever God has appointed, demonstrating the monarch’s commitment to unity and stability.
At the Onigbongbo central mosque ,Chief Imam Alh AbdulWaheed Olalekan Ishola welcomed the chairperson, praising the historic visit as First Of Its Kind .
The Chief Imam noted that no council chairman has ever broken their fast with muslim community , highlighting the chairperson’s commitment to building bridges and foestering unity.
In her remarks, the chairperson emphasized the importance of interfaith , harmony, stating that although she is now a christian, she came from a muslim background and beleives that people of diffrent faiths serve the same God. She also expressed her admiration for the HIJAB, stating that she loves seeing ladies dressed in the traditional attire.
