The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency has urged residents to promptly report fake, expired, adulterated and counterfeit products through its toll-free consumer helpline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency\u2019s General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Afolabi Solebo, made the call in a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday and signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Adesile Rufai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Solebo said residents could report consumer-related violations through the toll-free number 080 0005 2726<\/strong>, describing it as a direct channel for consumers to lodge complaints, seek guidance and obtain assistance from the agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said complaints could also be submitted through the agency\u2019s email and social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram and X, using the handle @lascopa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The LASCOPA boss urged residents not to rely solely on social media when they encounter consumer-related violations, stressing the importance of formally reporting such cases to the agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said complaints should be supported with verifiable evidence, including receipts, invoices, photographs or videos, product labels, proof of payment and screenshots of transactions, advertisements or conversations with sellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to him, residents can report fake and counterfeit products, expired or adulterated goods, defective products, misleading advertisements and unfair business practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other complaints that can be reported include poor services, online shopping disputes and other suspected violations of consumer rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Solebo also advised consumers to verify product details, prices, sellers and terms and conditions before making payments, particularly when shopping online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He urged residents to examine product labels and confirm the manufacturer\u2019s details, manufacturing and expiry dates, batch numbers, ingredients and usage instructions before purchasing goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said timely and credible complaints would help the agency identify violations and take appropriate enforcement action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cConsumer protection is a shared responsibility, government, businesses and consumers,\u201d Solebo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and actively participate in efforts to protect consumers and promote a safer marketplace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency has urged residents to promptly report fake, expired, adulterated and counterfeit products through its toll-free consumer helpline.
