The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Ama, has ordered the issuance of queries to the Divisional Police Officer of the 3-3 Police Station and a Deputy Superintendent of Police over the disappearance of an alleged armed robbery suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commissioner also directed the immediate commencement of disciplinary proceedings against an Inspector of Police in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the directives followed allegations contained in a viral video that a robbery suspect arrested and brought to the station could no longer be accounted for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Ikenga, Ama personally interviewed the complainant and the police officers involved before issuing the directives on October 5, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commissioner described the allegation as serious and capable of undermining public confidence in the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He directed the Command\u2019s X-Squad to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspect\u2019s arrest, detention, documentation and subsequent whereabouts, including the roles of the officers involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ama said the police would not tolerate unprofessional conduct, dereliction of duty, abuse of office or violations of established procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commissioner also disclosed that operational measures had been put in place to facilitate the arrest of the missing suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The command assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be communicated once the facts had been established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ikenga urged members of the public to refrain from circulating unverified information that could prejudice the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
