Ibadan, Oyo State \u2013 Members of the Oodua People\u2019s Congress (OPC) New Era, Oyo State chapter, came out in large numbers on Thursday to stage a solidarity rally in support of the newly crowned Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, ahead of his official coronation ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rally, which began at Oba Ladoja\u2019s residence in Bodija, proceeded through major streets of Ibadan and concluded at the newly completed Olubadan Palace in Yemetu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to journalists during the event, the State Chairman of OPC New Era, Comrade Rotimi Olumo, said the rally was organized to demonstrate the group\u2019s full support for the new monarch and to celebrate a significant moment in the history of Ibadan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe organized this rally to show that we stand firmly with our new Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and to express our love and loyalty to Ibadanland as a whole,\u201d Olumo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also used the occasion to offer prayers for the new king, wishing him divine wisdom, strength, and longevity as he receives the staff of office and begins his reign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs he receives the staff of office today, we pray that God grants Kabiyesi the wisdom and knowledge to lead Ibadan with peace and progress. May his reign be long, prosperous, and filled with unity for the people of Ibadan,\u201d Olumo added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The peaceful rally drew the attention of residents and passersby, many of whom joined in singing traditional songs and chanting praises of the new Olubadan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oba Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State and respected elder statesman, is being crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, in line with the city\u2019s unique chieftaincy tradition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
