Oyebanji Celebrates Alake at 70, Says Minister Has Made Ekiti Proud

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, on his 70th birthday.

Oyebanji described Alake as a distinguished indigene of Ekiti State who had contributed to Nigeria’s development through his career in journalism, public service and governance.

The governor, in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, commended Alake’s contribution to the Federal Government’s efforts to boost non-oil revenue.

He also praised the minister’s record as a journalist and communicator, particularly his advocacy for human rights and democratic governance.

According to Oyebanji, Alake played a significant role in the struggle for the restoration of democracy during the military era through his media advocacy, despite the risks involved.

The governor highlighted Alake’s career progression from reporter and editor to media manager, administrator and public servant.

He also recalled the minister’s service as Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State and later as Special Adviser on Communication to the President before his appointment as Minister of Solid Minerals Development.

Oyebanji said Ekiti State remained proud of Alake for projecting the state positively and contributing to its development.

He wished the minister good health, wisdom and many more years of service to the country and humanity.
