Tinubu Focuses on Reform, Says Integrity Group

The Integrity Group of Nigeria, under the banner of the Renewed Hope Initiative Ambassadors, has issued a statement defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership amid growing comparisons with previous administrations.

In the statement, signed by National Convener Dr. Oke Idawene and National Secretary Hon. Mukhtar Dahiru Gora, the group emphasized that President Tinubu is taking a more challenging path than his predecessors by prioritizing structural reforms over short-term popularity.

The group pointed to key policy decisions—such as the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of the foreign exchange market, and ongoing security sector reforms—as difficult but necessary measures aimed at addressing deep-rooted systemic issues. According to the statement, these reforms distinguish the current administration’s approach from previous governments, which it described as relying on unsustainable spending and temporary relief measures.

The Integrity Group argued that President Tinubu inherited a country facing serious economic and security challenges, and that his administration has chosen to confront these issues directly rather than deferring them. The group further noted that investments in sectors like agriculture, technology, power, and transportation are part of a broader effort to secure long-term development and stability.

The Renewed Hope Initiative, the group added, is not a political slogan but a platform for real interventions targeting vulnerable populations, including grants for women and MSMEs, school feeding programs, and other forms of social support.

Reacting to political commentary that has questioned the administration’s standing ahead of the 2027 elections, the Integrity Group maintained that public judgment should be based on performance and policy, not popularity or political alliances.

The statement concluded by urging Nigerians to view current national challenges as part of a transformation process rather than decline, describing the period as one of “rebirth” rather than collapse.
