Niger State Governor Swears-in New Members of Electoral Commission

Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, has officially sworn in the new members of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC).

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday.

The oath of office and allegiance was administered by Senior Magistrate, Court 7, Halima Yusuf, on the commission’s chairman and members.

Governor Bago emphasized that the newly appointed members were carefully selected for their reputations and distinguished careers, acknowledging their contributions to the state at various levels.

“The oath of allegiance on the members of the electoral commission will now enable them to commence preparations for the 2025 local government elections,” Governor Bago stated, urging the commission to begin their work promptly. He assured the members that the state government would offer the necessary support to ensure their success.

The newly appointed chairman, Mohammed Imam, expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve. He acknowledged the significance of the task ahead, noting the involvement of numerous political parties in the process. Imam assured the governor that they would fulfill their mandate without fail.

Imam also committed to ensuring that the electoral body adheres to the established guidelines for the electoral process.

  • Mohammed Imam (Chairman)
  • M.A. Liman (Permanent Commissioner I)
  • Nasiru Ubandiya (Permanent Commissioner II)
  • Yahaya Idris Abara (Permanent Commissioner III)
  • Capt. Mohammed Baro (Permanent Commissioner IV)
  • Kabiru Tanko Zama (Permanent Commissioner V)
  • Amina Guar (Permanent Commissioner VI)
  • Ahmed Borgu (Permanent Commissioner VII).
