Former Actors Guild of Nigeria president, Emeka Rollas, has apologised to Senator Ned Nwoko, his wife Regina Daniels, her mother Rita Daniels, members of the AGN Board of Trustees and other colleagues over statements he made during a period of tension within the guild.
Rollas said he had reflected on the controversy and regretted the timing and manner in which he addressed the issues.
He maintained that he had reasons for speaking out at the time and stood by the concerns he raised, but acknowledged that he could have handled the situation differently.
“These were people I had related with, worked with and, in some cases, considered friends. More importantly, I made those statements at a time when a family was going through a deeply personal and difficult period. I should not have taken that path,” he said.
Rollas said a recent chance encounter with Rita Daniels, during which some people tried to reconcile both parties, prompted him to further reflect on the situation and the impact of his words.
He also apologised to Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility, Nazareth Jesse, his former aides and other colleagues whose names he mentioned during the controversy.
The apology follows a statement Rollas issued on November 20, 2025, in which he addressed allegations and disputes surrounding the guild’s leadership, finances and transition process.
The controversy included a N200 million pledge by Senator Nwoko at the opening of the AGN office in Abuja and launch of the guild’s multipurpose Super App. Nwoko had said the funds would support a talent-hunt initiative for young Nigerian creatives.
In his earlier statement, Rollas addressed claims surrounding the donation and told Nwoko that it should have been made clear that the money was given to Regina Daniels for her film production and not to the guild.
Rollas also defended his administration’s record and criticised some members of the AGN Board of Trustees while insisting that the guild’s transition process should continue.
Reflecting on the matter, Rollas said his encounter with Rita Daniels reinforced the need for him to acknowledge the hurt caused by his earlier statements and apologise to those affected.
