Ogundoyin Donates New Secondary School to Temidire Community

Ogundoyin donates secondary school in Ibarapa East as part of efforts to improve access to quality education and support rural communities in Oyo State..

The project was commissioned on behalf of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Olusegun Olayiwola, during a ceremony attended by government officials, community leaders, and residents..

Ogundoyin described the project as a fulfilment of a campaign promise and a major step toward improving access to secondary education in the area.

Today’s event is not just about commissioning structuctures; it is about fulfilling a promise, restoring hope, and securing the future of our children. Promise made, Promise kept – Speaker

Why Ogundoyin Donates Secondary School in Ibarapa

Speaking at the event, the Speaker said the Temidire Community and about 14 surrounding villages previously had no secondary school.

According to him, pupils who completed primary education were forced to travel to Oloke in Abeokuta, Ogun State, or to Eruwa town to continue their studies. He noted that the situation created financial strain, safety concerns and discouraged many children from pursuing further education.

“Promise made, promise kept; mission accomplished,” Ogundoyin declared.

He said the new school would restore hope to families and provide children with easier access to quality education within their community.

Facilities and Academic Plans

The newly constructed secondary school consists of two blocks of three classrooms each, making six classrooms in total. Each block includes staff offices and a principal’s office to ensure effective administration.

The project also features a separate building with two modern toilet facilities for staff and students, designed to promote proper hygiene and sanitation. The classrooms have been fully furnished to create a conducive learning environment.

With the formal handover to the Oyo State Government, the school is expected to commence full academic activities in September with its first intake of students for the new academic session.

Birthday Marked by Community Project

The commissioning ceremony coincided with Ogundoyin’s 39th birthday on February 17, making the occasion a double celebration.

The Speaker said he could not think of a better way to mark his birthday than by investing in the future of children in his constituency.

More Projects Underway in Ibarapa East

Ogundoyin also disclosed that another secondary school project in Ojonamo, Lanlate, is nearing completion. He added that the Maya Town Hall project is also close to completion.

He listed other projects executed in the constituency to include:

  • A functional Primary Health Centre at Lagaye
  • Construction of a mosque at Oloro
  • Completion of the Eruwa Youth Movement Secretariat
  • Construction of a cold room for butchers
  • Installation of about 30 boreholes across communities
  • Regular empowerment programmes and bursaries for students
  • Facilitation of employment opportunities

The Speaker thanked the Temidire Community for its cooperation and urged residents, parents and students to protect the new school as a shared asset.

He stressed that education remains a powerful tool for empowerment and societal transformation, expressing confidence that the school would produce future leaders for Ibarapa East, Oyo State and Nigeria.
