Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has pledged ₦2 million to organisations supporting survivors of sexual abuse in memory of 13-year-old Elizabeth Ochanya Ogbanje, who died in 2018 after years of alleged assault.
In an Instagram post, Baci said Ochanya’s story moved her deeply, calling it “a reminder of the many girls still living with invisible wounds.”
She stressed the need for collective action beyond social media awareness, urging Nigerians to support credible NGOs dedicated to justice and rehabilitation.
“To support this cause, I’m pledging ₦2,000,000 to organisations working with rape and sexual abuse survivors,” she wrote, inviting the public to nominate trusted NGOs for her team’s consideration.
The chef emphasized that real change requires funding, accountability, and compassion-driven advocacy to ensure that “no child suffers the same fate as Ochanya again.”
