Ex-Deputy Governor Oladokun Felicitates Senator Ladoja on Emergence as Olubadan

Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Advisory Council, Chief Iyiola Oladokun, has congratulated the Olubadan-designate, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, wishing him longevity, good health, and a peaceful reign.

Chief Oladokun prayed that God would grant the new Olubadan the wisdom to rule Ibadanland effectively, noting that Senator Ladoja possesses all the qualities required for good governance even before ascending the throne.

“Ibadanland is fortunate to have former Governor Ladoja as the new Olubadan — an industrialist, political leader, and business mogul who has travelled extensively and acquired experience in all facets of life,” he said.

The former Deputy Governor observed that despite a turbulent political journey and the decades-long process of climbing the Olubadan ladder, Senator Ladoja remained unshaken — a mark of good leadership that a traditional ruler of his calibre requires to lead his people.

Barrister Oladokun described the Olubadan-designate as a principled, brave, articulate man who cherishes culture, expressing confidence that he will restore dignity to the traditional institution and foster unity among Yoruba traditional rulers.

He lamented that traditional rulers, out of envy, were relegated by the colonial masters — a trend entrenched in Nigeria’s inherited British legal system.

Chief Oladokun therefore appealed to Senator Ladoja to leverage his experience as a former governor and senator to work with relevant arms of government to correct this anomaly, ensuring that traditional rulers are duly recognised, respected, and protected by law.
