Free Health Insurance Nigeria: Adekunle Gold Launches 5 Star Care for Sickle Cell Patients

Free health insurance Nigeria is gaining momentum as award-winning Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold launches a healthcare initiative to support individuals living with sickle cell disorder. Announced on World Sickle Cell Day, the new project—called 5 Star Care—will provide free health insurance coverage for 1,000 sickle cell patients in Lagos.
The artist made the announcement via Instagram on Thursday, describing the initiative as a personal mission rooted in his own journey with sickle cell.
“Today is World Sickle Cell Day. And today, I’m proud to announce something that’s deeply personal to me,” Adekunle Gold wrote. “We’re starting small by providing free health insurance to 1,000 people living with sickle cell in Lagos State. But this is only the beginning.”
The Free health insurance Nigeria initiative is being rolled out through the Adekunle Gold Foundation, in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Health, the Lagos State Health Management Agency, and the Sickle Cell Management Initiatives.
In a heartfelt video accompanying the post, Adekunle Gold emphasized the importance of access to quality care regardless of background.
“5 Star Care isn’t just an initiative—it’s a promise,” he said. “A promise to ensure sickle cell warriors are seen, heard, and cared for.”
The singer explained that the Free health insurance Nigeria project aims to relieve the financial burden associated with managing the lifelong condition, allowing more people to get quality healthcare without unnecessary stress.
“Our goal is simple: to ease the financial burden of managing sickle cell and help more people get the care they deserve,” he said. “As someone who’s walked this path, I know how powerful it is to have the right support.”
Eligible individuals are encouraged to register through the foundation’s official website. The artist added that while the effort is starting small, he envisions expanding it to reach more communities over time.
