The Integrity Group of Nigeria, operating under the Renewed Hope Initiative Ambassadors, has responded to recent media reports linking former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, with a new political coalition. The reported alliance also includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, with speculation that the group may adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press statement signed by Dr. Oke Idawene and Hon. Mukhtar Dahiru Gora, the group described the proposed coalition as lacking cohesion and ideological direction. They expressed concerns about the coalition’s disregard for Nigeria’s traditional zoning arrangement, particularly the North-South power rotation structure, which they argued is vital for political balance and national unity.
The group reiterated its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and praised what it described as the administration’s ongoing efforts to reform the economy, improve security, and promote inclusive governance. Specific initiatives mentioned include empowerment programs targeting youth and women, local government financial autonomy, reforms in the energy sector, and measures to strengthen the naira and reduce the national debt.
Citing various development programs under the Renewed Hope Empowerment Initiative, the group emphasized that progress is being recorded in areas such as job creation and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
On national security, the statement referenced improvements in intelligence and policing, as well as the federal government’s efforts to address fraudulent power sector agreements to improve electricity supply nationwide.
The Integrity Group called on Nigerians to remain focused on ongoing national development efforts and not to be distracted by what they described as political maneuvering. The group concluded by encouraging citizens to continue supporting President Tinubu’s vision for a more prosperous Nigeria.
