Barr. Rekiyah Leads Hepatitis, Eye Care Outreach

Onigbongbo LCDA Launches Free Health Outreach on Hepatitis B and Eye Care

Residents of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) received a major health boost on Thursday, May 8, 2025. The council, led by Chairperson Barr. Rekiyah Olufunke Hassan, launched a comprehensive medical outreach in collaboration with Gilead Impact Foundation.

With support from the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Wahab Akerele, the program kicked off in Ward A. It aims to cover all six wards in the LCDA.

The outreach focuses on raising awareness about Hepatitis B. Free vaccinations, medical tests, and eyeglass distribution formed part of the day’s activities. According to organizers, the initiative also promotes early detection and prevention of Hepatitis B across the community.

Notably, the event drew representatives of HRM Oba Oluwasegun Adeyemi Ajasa Olaside I, the Awuse of Onigbongbo Kingdom. Chiefs, political leaders, religious figures, and community heads also attended the launch.

Beyond treatment, the program aims to improve the overall well-being of constituents. It reflects Onigbongbo LCDA’s commitment to accessible healthcare and community empowerment.

Through continued health interventions, the council hopes to build a healthier, more informed population in the long term.
