LPV Technologies, a Nigerian solar energy firm, has opened a new solar panel manufacturing facility in Lagos, advocating for a zero-import policy to boost local production.
With Nigeria’s electrification rate at approximately 60%, solar energy is seen as a key solution to bridging the power gap, particularly in rural areas. The company’s Executive Director, Yinka Adelodun, emphasized that the facility aims to address challenges in the renewable energy sector, including supply chain disruptions and dependence on imported solar panels.
Located near the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Ikotun, Lagos, the factory was unveiled recently, with executives leading a tour to showcase its production capacity. LPV Technologies began developing the plant nearly two years ago, as part of its mission to scale up solar infrastructure deployment.
Adelodun highlighted the importance of integrating solar energy with other power sources, such as gas, to ensure sustainable energy generation. “While many are installing solar panels as a quick fix, the real solution lies in harnessing solar and gas to power the economy sustainably,” he said.
