The Oyo State House of Assembly today held a special sitting in honor of the former Majority Leader, Late Hon. Kehinde Hassan Subair, who passed away on March 14, 2025, at the age of 60.
In his tribute, read by the Deputy Speaker Hon. A. M. Fadeyi, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, expressed shock at the passing of the former Majority Leader. He described Hon. Subair as a staunch supporter of democracy, a community leader, and a champion of the masses.
Hon. Ogundoyin acknowledged the late lawmaker’s leadership qualities and his ability to foster a harmonious working relationship among colleagues in the 8th Assembly, ultimately benefiting the people of Oyo State.
Also paying tribute, former Speaker Rt. Hon. Monsurat Sunmonu described Hon. Subair as a team player in every sense, whose rise to the position of Majority Leader was a testament to his hard work and accountability. She lauded his unwavering dedication to public service, valuable leadership, and consensus-building abilities. She added that his passing was a tremendous loss—not only to his family and friends but also to the political community and the people of Oyo State.
Speaking on behalf of the 10th Assembly, the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, described the late lawmaker as a political colossus, an enigma, and an exemplary team player. He emphasized that Hon. Subair’s contributions as Majority Leader in the 8th Assembly were invaluable.
Hon. Oyekola further praised his peaceful approach to governance, his willingness to assist others, and his enduring legacy of service.
The special sitting served as a moment of reflection and appreciation for the immense contributions of Late Hon. Kehinde Subair to democracy and governance in Oyo State.
