The Member of the House of Representatives representing Somolu Federal Constituency of Lagos and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Assets, Honourable Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye, has been officially confirmed as the Otunba Ajana of Ijebuland by His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland.
Honourable Ademorin Kuye, born on the 11th of February 1963, hails from a distinguished lineage. His father, Ganiyu Ishola Kuye, is from the Kuye Lawal Giwa family of the Gbelegbuwa/Gboguja royal house in Ijebu Ode. His mother is a princess from the royal family of King Moleda, Oba Doherty Idowu, who ruled Ijebuland between 1932 and 1942.
In his remarks, His Royal Majesty Oba Sikiru Adetona, GCON, the revered Awujale of Ijebuland, described Honourable Kuye as a man of integrity, deeply committed to the progress of his hometown. The monarch expressed confidence in Kuye’s passion for the development of Ijebuland, praising him as a leader who consistently prioritizes the advancement of his people.
In his acceptance speech, the newly installed Otunba Ajana, Honourable Kuye, expressed his profound gratitude to the Awujale and the people of Ijebuland for the honour bestowed upon him. He pledged to serve the land faithfully and work tirelessly to uphold the trust placed in him, assuring all that he would not disappoint.
Honourable Kuye also extended his appreciation to the many dignitaries who graced the occasion with their presence.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance was Senator Abiru, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions. In his goodwill message, Senator Abiru congratulated Honourable Kuye on his conferment and prayed for divine wisdom and a long life for him as he embarks on this new chapter of service.
Following the traditional rites, a grand reception was held at the Dipo Dina Stadium, where the legendary musician K1 De Ultimate entertained the crowd with his captivating performance.
The event was attended by numerous high-profile personalities, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, and his wife. His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, and his Deputy, Her Excellency Noimot Salako-Oyedele, were also present, along with many Senators, members of the House of Representatives, and local council chairpersons.
